Still here, ups and downs
by Mark ~ January 19th, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized.Hey folks, sorry for the lack of posts lately, but the last couple of weeks have been a bit of a rollercoaster of ups and downs. . A lot of things have happened since my last post across the entire emotional spectrum. My wife and I have been caring for our ailing 18 year old cat “Bear” (the last surviving cat of our family of four cats + 1 dog) to the point where we were personally giving her IV fluids – which were really helping her for awhile. . Then I needed to go out of the country for my ‘day job’ to Germany and the Czech Republic, and you never like leaving when you have a pet so ill. . She was declining really fast when I left, and as I feared passed away while I was gone. So that is tough. . Our dog Chinny has also been grieving for her it seems. . They never got along that well, but you could tell they kept each other company a lot.
The stupid PC is running again, and I had a rather “Apple” 40th birthday back on the 10th My wife bought me an iPhone for it, which is quite cool And my birthday also coincided with the announcement of the new MacPro’s, I though it was no better time than to place and order for one I don’t have it yet, but my days as a PC user are now numbered. . So the PC crash, birthday, out of town, and of course our poor cat have kept me away from this blog for awhile. I’ll get back into the swing of things eventually, and have a new photography project in the works when I can get things back in order again.

Sorry to hear about the cat. Those sorts of things are always heartrending. *hug* Happy birthday, regardless. Congrats on the new impending system. Hang in there, hon.

So sorry about Bear – we’re just starting with the fluids for own kitty so I know what you’re going through.

I hope the next days bring you more ups that downs.
And I have to say, I’m sorry I took so long to post a comment after all the reading and lurking so long (years?) on your sites. I look forward to your future photo projects. Your recent best of 2007 has inspired me to review of my 2007 images and pick the top few.

Hi Mark,
Sorry to hear about the loss. I lost my cat this summer – I know how tough it can be. I hope you can look back and remember the good times!

Hey Mark,
Sorry to hear about the loss of your cat, it is always really sad to lose a pet and a good companion!
On a more happy note a very Happy Birthday to you, it sounds like it was the big 40! Congratulations, and more congratulations on ordering the Mac, I really hope it will work out a treat for you. Let us know how you go transitioning.
I just downloaded Photomatix last night after making a decision (that can still be changed) to probably stay with Windows and PC. Now I can really have fun with that super ‘grunge’ look, not that has a lot to do with nature photography, but it’s still good fun.
All the best,
Thomas

Hi Mark and Lisa: Mark, sorry to hear about your cat. We have 3 dogs and there is no doubt they keep each other company.
I bought an iPhone in November. It is a very cool tool, as I am able to get my email both personal and work with it now, as well as synch my calendar, etc.
I did not know we had so much in common, but I, too have a January birthday. Unfortunately, I am WELL past my 40th. My own website is very close to up and running — a few bugs to iron out. I’ll send you the link when its ready for prime time. Best…………….

Chris, Thomas, Andy – thanks a lot. I appreciate the kind words.
Andy – be sure to make the big announcement. Glad to see you stopping by. Been a long time since the old “AOL Photo” board days eh?
