I am sure if you are a return visitor, you just thought – “Did I click on the right site?” :-) Yes, I have finally changed my WordPress theme after a long and hard search For you WordPress users, I am sure you can relate to the feeling of hunting and searching until your eyes are about to pop out because you find certain elements of themes that you like, and others that just completely turn you away There are thousands of themes, and the search can be quite overwhelming.
I finally found one that fit my tastes and elements I was looking for, and wouldn’t you know it has the perfect name.. “Nature’s Highlight.” It is cleaner, simpler, and has an elegant look I think I like that I can have rotating images in the header So clickity click your reload button to your heart’s content So a special thanks to the designers over at refueled.net.
Please pardon ‘my dust’ as I am tweaking it a little here to get all the right elements back from my old one I hope I don’t screw up any formatting, so if something looks wierd, don’t worry – it will probably be fixed within nanoseconds.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the new look I appreciate your support and visitation, please let me know if something is not working right for you.
Hi Mark,
nice layout – clean and very good to read. The changing header photos are a nice add-on. The only thing I do not quite understand is that I have to enter name, website and email each time I want to comment on your blog although I am on wordpress as well. Other blogs on wordpress do not request this data each time – they simply take the ones I am logged on with.
Thanks Petra. Hmmm, I know what you are talking about as far as the ‘auto-fill in’. Did you try to comment on another post and had to re-enter? I am not exactly sure why that is. Will have to do some poking around.
Mark, I like the design. I go through the same eye popping searches trying to find the theme that fits just right. Haven’t yet found a perfect one for me. I see you’ve got some interesting recentl posts I haven’t read. I need to do some catching up.
Excellent look Mark! It was very good before, but I really like this new feel, and it’s very easy to read.
Looks great Mark! I like it a lot.
By the way, my name and website still appear in the comment section.
Ron
Looks great here Mark, and yes, ….. I did a double take when I clicked on your link!
Also on this end, … my name, site, etc. appears just fine when entering a comment.
Thanks folks – I am glad you like it as well. I am really quite excited about the new layout the more I tweak it. WordPress just rocks man.
The new design looks sharp. I was reading the blog while on the road yesterday on my iPhone and it looked great that way too. I don’t have a problem with the font being too small… yet. I too get complaints about that but it tends to be an older generation that is prone to having problem reading smaller text. Browsers do provide readers the ability to enlarge the text so I wouldn’t say you necessarily need to change your text style choices.
Sorry if you visited today and experienced some really messed up formatting. My wife mentioned that the blog was blank and apparently something that only happens in Internet Explorer. Have to figure that one out.
Hi Mark,
I can relate to the endless search. I did this with my website, well I kept changing it in search for the perfect look, until I decided to go with a ‘pro’ site that I was really pleased with and which meant spending a lot less time computing away.
I really enjoy this new look. Great with the ‘refreshing’ images at top as well.
Thomas
I love the b/w look. I’m quite impressed with the rotating header. Looks very professional, classy.
Great job Mark!!!
Hey Mark,
Don’t hate me. I liked the older version.
Cheers
Carl
Hey Carl – I liked the older one also – but that doesn’t have to mean you DON”T like the new one…
Hey Mark,
I like the theme. I’m tempted to switch to it myself!
Hey Mark,
They’re not mutually exclusive, no. I guess I liked the ole one more. There, I said it.
One thing, I wish it were possible to move from one thread to the next/previous .. how do I do that here? Without using the ‘recent comments’ link .. I’m not always sure they’re gunna take me where I want to go. Am I just missing it somewhere?
Well that’s OK too Carl, I am sure you will get used to it.
As far as the next/previous thing – I am not sure the old theme had that either did it? But something I will look into – just for you buddy.
Thanks also to those of you who DO like the new look!
me again
thought i’d give you a heads uo- my ‘notify of followup comments’ isn’t working, but no biggie-
am trying to tweak my own version so that it’s original.. I need something easier for my worn out eyes to read, and this template is so much easier on my eyes.. so many templates detract from images that are posted, but this one complments them so nicely..
back to twaking
Seems some things are perhaps not working – I don’t know how to get the next / previous links back within the actual page of the post itself. Seems they should be here, but they are being stubburn.
As far as the emails – don’t know what to tell you there Cindy. I just overcame a big issue with this thing displaying right in IE. Emails well – maybe my server is just a bit slow.
I really like the new site look Mark! Nice job with finding a new theme that wasn’t a dramatic leap from the old one. I was pleasantly surprised tonight as I was getting caught up on a backlog of blog reading. You also reminded me that I have been meaning to migrate my site and blog into one site under wordpress for a consolidated look and feel. Guess I better get cracking!
Greg – thanks. Yes, the typical problem is finding one that you want to blend seamlessly into the rest of your site. This one doesn’t exactly blend, but I don’t think it clashes either. I plan on making some tweaks to other areas of the site when I have time to make it a bit more seamless.
