NATURE-INSPIRED WALL ART

Nature Prints, Canvas, Metal & Acrylic

All of the nature photography on my site is available as wall art in various mediums. The selection of the medium is mainly based on personal preference and compatibility with your display environment.

Cost is understandably a factor in any art purchase.  Frameless mounts like canvas or prints on aluminum can eliminate the need for traditional wooden frames with glass or acrylic.   Custom murals to split an image into multiple panels, as pictured here, can also help fill larger spaces.

Fortunately, so many options are available today to fit any room and budget.  If you are looking for an option not already shown in the purchase areas of my galleries, I’ll be happy to work with you on a custom order.

Vibrant Michigan Landscapes and Nature Details

Explore rich textures, silence and solitude of northern Michigan landscape photography.  Intimate portraits of trees in fall color are only a sample of the Michigan stock photos to be found in my galleries.

Canvas Nature Prints

Canvas prints are a popular way to display photographs.   They can be more economical, as the framing is internal and pieces come ready-to-hang.

As there are no external frames, canvas also lends itself to creating multi-paneled wall art, either of coordinated photographs, or a single photograph split into multiple panels.   You can also custom order a single image split into panels like this leaf photo shown above.

Nature Prints

Often there is nothing better to represent a photograph than a traditional, gallery-quality, fine art print.   With sharp details and vibrant colors, they make for an excellent addition to any space, gallery, office, or your own home.

Photographic paper prints are available matted or un-matted.  (Framing not included)

Facemount Acrylic Nature Prints

With an elegant luminance that has no rival, facemount acrylic prints make a statement that is hard to portray in a small web image.

A sharp, vibrant high gloss print is sandwhiched between optically clear acrylic and a backing substrate to create a wall art presentation that invites wonder.

Nature wall art in Metal

Prints on metal have a certain radiance to them, with vibrant colors and sharpness.

I enhance this display by float mounting the color metal print with a “monochrome surround” that creates a unique piece of wall art.

SIZING AND HANGING ARTWORK TIPS

How Big Should Artwork Be?

All spaces are different, and the use of art can have different purposes.   Is it a center focal piece or meant to be a complementary element?   It can be difficult for some to visualize what a piece will look like in a room. The rule of thumb in galleries is to hang artwork at the eye level of the average person – which is 60 inches (appx. 1.5m).

For example, if it is a single piece above a sofa, consider keeping a minimum of 4-6 inches of free space above the couch.    As far as the width, another good rule of thumb is to use about 75% of the width of the sofa, table, console, etc.

Be aware of windows and direct lighting

Reflections may be distracting.

If you are considering a work that will have a glossy surface (high gloss metal, acrylic, traditional mat/frame with glass), direct light from windows can sometimes create objectionable glare.   Lustre surfaces and canvas help mitigate this concern.

PRINT PHILOSOPHY

What is a “fine art print” anyway?

It’s a good question! It introduces the philosophy that the photograph isn’t finished until it has reached this output medium.

It recognizes creative decisions are made between the steps of exposure and the final print.   It moves beyond a documentarian approach to photography into expressive art.

The exposure in the camera begins a conversation between the subject, some element in nature,  and me. In development, the conversation is refined. The print marks a stopping point.

A print marks a particular place where that conversation has reached a point of equilibrium for me.   Some artists refer to it as the point of abandonment; there is nothing more to say.   And if you have a print, perhaps you can continue the conversation where I left off for many years to come?
