Apple seems to be on command and conquer roll. They just introduced an update to their internet browser Safari, previously an exclusive for Macs, but now for Windows as well. Since I do all my web design on a Windows PC, it is difficult for me to check the appearance of how pages appear on a Mac or in Safari. Therefore this is a welcome addition in the area of web browsers for me. I only hope that it closely mimics how pages look on a Mac, perhaps it is only halfway. As I am writing this post from within Safari, I can already see a thing or two that don’t quite work right from within WordPress, but perhaps it is a setting somewhere. I do notice that from the limited surfing I have done in Safari, it definitely seems faster than Firefox as Apple claims. Some fonts also look quite different. But overall, my site seems to function well, with no major hiccups.

I do like the clean look of Safari – the “no borders” appearance on web pages is nice. I’ll definitely have to kick the tires a bit more. Safari visitors make up about 5-6% of the overall visitors to my site, with Firefox users at 20%, Internet Explorer at 73%, and the balance with other browsers. I am willing to bet those percentages are going to change a bit with this new release. I can hardly wait to see the Mac & PC spot on this one.

Return to Printing

It's been quite some time since I've printed any photographs at home. My Epson 4800, affectionately referred to as Dusty Boat Anchor right now, served me well for a while, but eventually became quite a burden and expensive thing to use. I certainly was not printing...

Mac Studio experience

Back in March, I posted about how the era of my Mac Pro desktop came to an end with the purchase of a Mac Studio and Studio Display. With a good 3 months of use under my belt, I thought I'd collect some of what I've experienced in an update post. However, I am quite...

Mac Studio

My old Mac Pro finally has a replacement. Over the years, people may have noticed my remarks about my system getting up there in years. Apple's recent product announcements happened to fall at a time that felt right for me. As such, I purchased a new Mac Studio (M1max...

Jenni, thanks for letting me know I am OK to the Mac world!

Paul – I know the temptation very well. I am so fed up with dealing with PCs and their issues. I know Mac’s aren’t issue free, but that grass sure does look greener! 😉

Thanks for the mini review, Mark. I’ll have to try it out. I’ve been thinking about switching over to Mac for a long time. I’ve used one before and loved it. Now, I can have just a little piece of it for nothing.

You’re site has been working without a problem in Safari. Normally if you don’t get too funky with the design of a web page Safari doesn’t have a problem (now myspace pages for example don’t work more ofen than they do).
I haven’t tried the Windows version of Safari yet but it should be very similar to the Mac version, because both use the same core programming.
