FL8541.jpgI have been limiting my blogging activities lately due to trying to figure out what is grabbing resources at my web host. I ‘ll post more about it when it is resolved. Until then, I’ll share a new image shot in my backyard recently. I still intend on doing my “Every 10 feet” project, but haven’t been able to dedicate some quality time to it yet. What attracted me this particular set of stamen were their alignment and their ‘standing tall’ presentation. Sunshine was also coming in from the side giving the translucent tubules an incredible glow.

Skunk Cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus)

Botany is not one of my strong suits. Perhaps the strongest memory I have of recognizing that is from a hike some years back during a training class on vernal pools. While hiking to one specific pool, one of the class instructors, Ms. Phyllis Higman, a Senior...

Spring Ephemerals

Spring seems like such a fleeting season here in Michigan.   We strongly yearn for milder temps after what seems like an eternity of Winter but are not quite ready for the humidity and heat of Summer.    We want to bask for a bit in the fresh energy around us.  Though...

    Carl, thanks for stopping by.

Howard, I am nearing the finish line in getting this site thing resolved. Just waiting for them to transfer my site back over to a production server. (and waiting, and waiting…) But at least the site is still up, I’ll give em that.

    hey Mark

Really a nice shot .. I love the overlap of tones between the subject and the b/g. This is a really cool photo.

I also dig the way the larger image opens up and all. Way cool.

    Cheers

    Carl

Hope you get your blogging issues sorted out soon as I really enjoy reading your posts. Great shot…I like the way the stamens in the middle all seem to be in plane and in focus and the one on the left appears forward of the focus plane and the one on the right behind the plane. Nice symmetry. Great shot.
