These are a few pieces I recently added to my gallery – related to my Stonescapes series. These look at the aspects of animals that once lived millions of years ago, now turned into stone. Looking at these remnants of these animals brings to mind so many questions about what life was like when this was their world. What an honor it must be to have someone thinking about you millions of years in the future.

While doing some image organization in Lightroom, I came across a batch of photographs I had previously published to my site but somehow got "lost in the shuffle" when I migrated all of my image galleries many years ago. They've been omitted from my Stonescapes series...

Just think in a few million more years “someone” may be making images of some preserved relics of our current lives…that should confuse the hell out of them! 🙂
well, those that are not within a concrete box that is. 🙂
You come up with some fantastic stuff, Mark. I’m curious, where do you get your samples from? Do you find them online, or do you have a backhoe that you use for such expeditions. Inquiring minds want to know! 😀
Fantastic colors and lovely patterns!
I tired the backhoe route Paul. Turns out my wife didn’t approve of our backyard being turned into a quarry. So I tend to come across them on the internet via eBay or other rock collecting sites where other people have the backhoes and quarry yards. 🙂 the coral one my wife actually gave me – and the ammonite she bought as a display piece.
These are wonderful, Mark. The evidence of past life is always encouraging for the future despite what seems an ominous end heading in our direction. Even doing our worst I still believe the earth will endure despite us and once we are gone the healing will begin….at least until Sol extinguishes.
signed,
your Sunday pessimist.
Lol Steve! Finally someone’s pessimism that can match mine. Even when our sun burns out, all those particles end up somewhere right? 🙂
