I have really let my posting frequency drop off over the past two years and have recently encountered a challenge that I thought might energize it.   It is called the AtoZ Challenge that has been around for a number of years, but I only discovered it recently.   I was quite surprised to see how large the blog list was, mine was added way down at the bottom at #1922.   I am not normally one to participate in these types of things, let alone make such a commitment of time.   Going from 1 or 2 posts a month to 26 in a month is going to be quite a task, nothing like diving into the deep end.

Ambiance of Leaves, # LE-9997

I am a big fan of it.   I love it in some of the music I listen to, the sonic textures and aural landscapes that some musicians can create that seems to swirl around you.   I strive to create it in my own work, which isn’t always so easy with some singular nature subjects.

This is a big part of why I am a bit enamoured with these leaf pile images lately.   I love photographing leaves anyway, but looking for patterns or some type of synergy in a seemingly chaotic pile of debris can be like hunting for treasure.   Through a bit of exploring in development, I have found a “look” that I enjoy, that I believe encourages visual exploration, and yes, perhaps a bit of ambiance.

So I’ll cut it short and leave it at this for my first post in the challenge.  I don’t want to burn out too quickly!  🙂   I hope you will follow along.

Fusion Series

The Fusion Series is a pairing of my fondness for playing with multiple exposures with the aspects of connectivity in nature. With spring wildflower season well underway, it is important to remember a wildflower doesn't exist in isolation. It is a product of the soil...

In honor of 2022-02-22 or 22-02-2022 but certainly not the bizarre order of 02-22-2022 (apparently we Americans don't do metric and we can't get our dates in a logical order like the rest of the world), published at 22:22 ET - here are some photographs celebrating the...

Elementals

My mind is and has been, toying with a concept for quite a long time now. It is difficult to put in words, let alone imagery. It is the concept of the dynamic dichotomy that exists around us with destruction vs. protection, life vs. death, forest vs. trees, assembly...

For me there is something serene in the chaos of nature. Words fall short so I will not go there in expressing it. I do know leaves pull me in and I can find myself lost in observation. I like the idea of this project. So, I’ll be here checking on your progress and keep the pressure on you. 🙂

I agree Monte, even a single word has a hard time capturing all there is. And thanks for the offer of applying pressure, I may need it! 🙂
