wi8401.jpgSeason changes are a screwy time around Michigan, but they provide for some interesting subject matter for photography. Whether your interest is in melting ponds and snow (which offer great macro opportunities), or watching the winter ice thaw on the lakes – it is a dynamic time of year. Today we had temperatures in the 70’s (F), I shot this ice image just this past Sunday. Ice on Lake St. Clair is breaking up pretty quick with the mild temperatures we have had lately, but I don’t think anyone expected it to be 70 deg.  I am sure this ice is all gone now. An unexpected warm weather treat that will certainly not last long because Mother Nature has a way of toying with us Michiganders. We have learned she has a pretty strange sense of humor! I put a few more from this weekend’s shoot in my gallery.

Winter is usually a slow photography time, but I get out when the conditions call. We've had a good dose of snow this year, but it primarily came over a short period. Nowhere near the amounts some areas impacted by the lake effect snow had. After last year's mild...

We had our first good drop of snow here in Southeast Michigan this week. Despite some brutally cold temperatures we had prior to Christmas, winter around here seemed a bit delayed - at least visually. The lakes are behind in freezing over. And it just never feels like...

Great photo, Mark. This is my first spring in Michigan, so I’m still learning about its weather. But even if it snows this weekend, yesterday’s 70 degree weather was a welcome breath of spring.

Mark that is very nice. I can see that someone has been playing with the luminosity masks again! I’m kind of getting addicted to them myself!

    Fantastic range of tones!
