Indian Paintbrush

Just an image for this post, not much else.  This is a rendering of an image I made not long ago where I wanted to add further simplicity to a very cluttered scene.  The end result – Indian Paintbrush looking rather … painterly.

Skunk Cabbage (Symplocarpus foetidus)

Botany is not one of my strong suits. Perhaps the strongest memory I have of recognizing that is from a hike some years back during a training class on vernal pools. While hiking to one specific pool, one of the class instructors, Ms. Phyllis Higman, a Senior...

Spring Ephemerals

Spring seems like such a fleeting season here in Michigan.   We strongly yearn for milder temps after what seems like an eternity of Winter but are not quite ready for the humidity and heat of Summer.    We want to bask for a bit in the fresh energy around us.  Though...

I’m new to this site and to your work, but this piece (it’s as far as I’ve gotten) is absolutely stunning. A beautiful capture and post process work.

I usually prefer straight photography, but experiment some with other methods too. I have been working with various degrees of soft focus and flowers. Here you used just the right amount of soft focus to produce very beautiful results, besides, Indian Paintbrush is one of my favorites.

Very nice. ‘Semi-impressionist’. The glow of the paintbrush blossoms really grabs the eye. Well done Mark.

I’ve had some painterly effects in some of my own images, but nothing like this. This is phenomenal. It’s amazing what you can get a camera to do these days.
