Of course there's Purple...

Of course there’s Purple…

R is for Resonance

…the ability to evoke or suggest images, memories, and emotions

With the news today of Prince’s death, it certainly triggered a lot of memories back to my high school years.  I probably had Purple Rain on repeat for weeks at a time.     It was a time when music was nearly all we ever talked about.   He was an artist that had significant influence on my youth and is one of the artists that had me exploring and listening to other related genres.   His work was (is) alive and passionate like few others, and it carries a resonance like few other works of art we may encounter throughout our lives.

I suppose artists of any type are always searching for that resonance in their own work.  It may be momentary, it may last a lifetime.    Music tends to have that type of impact.   For as many parallels there are between music and the visual arts, I am not sure a visual piece sticks with us with as much vigor.   After all, people may spend 15 seconds with a photograph, hours, days, years, decades with a single song.

But if you can get anyone to be lost for a moment, away from the trials of everyday life, through their eyes or their ears, you have accomplished something.   Some have done that for millions of people.

In honor of 2022-02-22 or 22-02-2022 but certainly not the bizarre order of 02-22-2022 (apparently we Americans don't do metric and we can't get our dates in a logical order like the rest of the world), published at 22:22 ET - here are some photographs celebrating the...

Elementals

My mind is and has been, toying with a concept for quite a long time now. It is difficult to put in words, let alone imagery. It is the concept of the dynamic dichotomy that exists around us with destruction vs. protection, life vs. death, forest vs. trees, assembly...

Very thought provoking. You have many talents! We lost an amazing artist, for sure. A friend of mine is having sever nerve pain from botched back surgery and said that the latest album by rockers The Cult have really helped her.
