Buttonbush with Honeybee

I have been out photographing a little! A new one: Buttonbush with Honeybee, Clinton River Park, Sterling Heights, MI

Several months ago I wrote about how I was redoing the galleries of my website.   Work is still ongoing on this front, but I am making progress.   Overall, I am still fairly happy with my selection of NextGen Gallery Pro as the foundation for building them.   While it hasn’t been problem-free, I actually had the CEO reach out to me with a personal offer of support if I had any issues with their latest update.   That means a lot.    Given some of the issues I had with sorting out conflicts with other plugins, and working out some E-commerce issues – I was nervous about doing any major updates.   Their 3.0 version was a major update of the UI, and I was holding off.   Turns out my fears were unfounded, and I updated without issue.

If I were to measure my progress, I originally had 2600 photographs spread across 83 legacy galleries to deal with.   As of today, I have 1049 photos in 31 NextGen galleries.   Slow progress I admit.   A lot has to do with some redevelopment of older photographs.  New preferences of working on them using TKActions, some nice developing options in Luminar2018.  Every photograph requires resizing, re-watermarking, and re-optimizing for file size – which I have not done in a bulk way.   However, TKActions has a nice Photoshop Action that does most of the work and sharpens to my liking.

If you haven’t visited in awhile, here are some of the newer galleries worth exploring…and all other galleries are being populated with more images.

Tweaking Darker & Refined

Tweaking Darker & Refined

Since my last major website redesign in 2018, it seems like I have been in a constant "tweaking" mode. Part of it was learning two new platforms (Divi and NextGen Gallery) to build it with, combined with building from scratch in WordPress, combined with my own...

More Galleries online

I made progress this week in converting more galleries over.   I knew this was going to be a tedious chore, but wow, it is tedious with a capital "T"!   Not only am I pruning a lot of old work, but my music library is getting a good workout. 🙂   It...

As always the galleries and your images are beautiful. Mark, your attention to detail is evident in the whole website. Great work!

Very much appreciate the kind words Earl. Sometimes I am not sure if all the little tweaks that I seem to constantly do are worthwhile.

It’s definitely worthwhile, all those little tweaks accumulate to take things to the exceptional level.

Congratulations! Great job. The boredom and the grind are worth it, but they don’t don’t make it fun, I’m sure.

      Thanks Anita!

With all that work, I am heartened to see that you have had time to go out photographing. All the best with the remaining galleries Mark.

Always inspiring to look at your images. They are wonderful (as usual). I also really like the web sharpening that the TK actions generate. Redoing a website – sigh – I feel for you….

Thanks Howard, I appreciate the kind words. On the web sharpening from TK – it is rare I need to adjust from the defaults. Some days I like fiddling with the site, but others it seems like a real grind when I need to do a lot of repetitive stuff.
